Organic and plastic waste management
The project focused on waste management with dual goals: promoting the composting of organic waste and encouraging responsible handling of non-biodegradable plastics. It aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of composting for plant growth while addressing the environmental harm caused by plastic waste. To achieve this, the team developed educational materials and organized awareness programs in schools and local communities. Additionally, composting initiatives were implemented on campus to serve as a practical example of sustainable waste management. The project successfully engaged students and community members, fostering support for effective waste disposal practices. This initiative not only contributed to healthier plant growth but also instilled a greater sense of responsibility for reducing plastic waste, resulting in a positive environmental impact.
The project has significantly raised awareness about climate change and waste management, leading to community members utilizing both organic and plastic waste for gardening. Households have begun transforming recycled materials like thermocol and plastic into useful resources for planting, showcasing creativity alongside environmental responsibility. The department is now adorned with various plants, creating a green atmosphere that enhances the surroundings and promotes sustainability. In the hostel mess, awareness posters have successfully encouraged students to take only the food they need, reducing waste. Additionally, campaigns have inspired students to engage with gardening practices, further fostering a connection with nature and a commitment to sustainable living.
