Harvesting Resilience: Modified Floating-bed for Climate Smart Agriculture
“Project Harvesting Resilience” offers a transformative solution for climate-vulnerable communities by revitalizing barren lands impacted by salinity intrusion. The initiative utilizes halophytes, activated carbon, gypsum, and coco peat to effectively reduce soil salinity and enhance fertility, allowing farmers to reclaim previously unusable land for productive agriculture. Economically, it enhances farmers’ financial stability by enabling the cultivation of high-demand crops in formerly unproductive areas, resulting in increased yields and new market opportunities. Environmentally, the project rehabilitates saline and degraded lands, restoring soil health and promoting biodiversity while minimizing agriculture’s environmental impact. Socially, it empowers local communities, particularly women, by providing sustainable, easy-to-implement farming techniques that encourage widespread engagement. By addressing economic, environmental, and social dimensions, Project Harvesting Resilience presents a comprehensive approach to enhancing community resilience in the face of climate challenges.
