Mangroves Restoration and Conservation in Chittagong City Corporation,Bangladesh to Combat Climate Change
The coastal project has achieved meaningful impact through a mangrove plantation initiative, enhancing resilience along the shoreline. By planting mangroves, the project established a natural barrier that protects coastal areas from strong waves and future natural disasters. This initiative not only focused on environmental restoration but also emphasized community engagement. Throughout the project, the team actively collaborated with the local community to raise awareness about the critical role of mangroves in climate adaptation and coastal protection. Educational materials and direct involvement have encouraged the community to prioritize mangrove preservation, fostering a strong sense of environmental stewardship. The project also focused on educating youth, underscoring the unique benefits of mangroves—such as their capacity to store five times more CO2 than other forests—and their essential role in carbon sequestration and offsetting. This knowledge empowers young people to become advocates for environmental conservation, helping ensure the long-term sustainability of these efforts.
