Climate Resilience Through Native Flora

The project focuses on restoring native plant biodiversity on the university campus, addressing the adverse effects of urbanization and climate change. By introducing 12 native plant species, including medicinal and fruit-bearing varieties, the initiative aims to create a sustainable green space while promoting awareness about the importance of native flora. Despite challenges such as overcoming stereotypes and encouraging community participation, the team successfully planted 96 saplings and envisions expanding the initiative beyond the campus.

Our project successfully revitalized a local ecosystem by reintroducing native species and raising awareness about the importance of native plants in mitigating climate change. Through educational initiatives, such as seminars, exhibitions, and practical guides, we empowered the community to take action. The project’s impact has been significant, inspiring university officials to initiate their own plantation drive and motivating individuals to start their own green initiatives. This widespread support demonstrates the project’s success in fostering environmental stewardship and community engagement.
