Biruwa : A Think Tank Empowering Voices for Climate Justice and Governance
“Project Biruwa” nurtures questioning abilities in individuals facing climate injustice in Nepal. Our Think Tank develops white papers and educational materials to empower thinkers and raise awareness about climate issues, currently understood by only 34% of the population. We aim to fill the awareness gap, equip individuals with climate justice skills, and bridge the divide between stakeholders and communities. Challenges include skepticism and fragmented climate laws. Outcomes include enhanced critical thinking and increased public accountability.
In three months, “Biruwa” established a Think Tank with 19 members who produced two white papers on Climate Financing and the Impact of Climate Change on Indigenous Communities. They organized five awareness-raising events, engaging 200 participants, and created three educational materials reaching over 50 individuals, including 15 schools. Feedback from 40 survey participants showed that 99% are interested in joining our initiative. Collaborating with five youth-led organizations, our thinkers are redefining the roles of authorities in climate justice and governance.
