Develop Biodegradable Cup from Sugarcane: Addressing Climate Change Challenges with a Renewable and Sustainable Solution to Reduce Plastic Waste and Deforestation, Enhance Environmental Resilience.

This project aims to tackle the environmental challenges associated with conventional plastic and paper cups, which significantly contribute to pollution and deforestation. By developing biodegradable cups made from sugarcane, the initiative provides a sustainable alternative that reduces reliance on harmful materials and helps mitigate the effects of climate change. Key objectives include offering an eco-friendly substitute to traditional cups, utilizing rapidly renewable sugarcane to support a circular economy, and decreasing deforestation while lowering greenhouse gas emissions linked to conventional cup production. However, challenges such as ensuring the material strength of sugarcane cups, balancing production costs for market competitiveness, and educating consumers and businesses about the benefits of biodegradable options must be addressed. Successful implementation of this project is expected to result in a substantial reduction in the use of plastic and paper cups, lower deforestation rates, and a smaller overall environmental footprint.
