A step towards waste management in the university campus
The project aims to improve the poor waste management system at the university, addressing the lack of accessible dustbins along pedestrian routes and key areas that has contributed to increased littering. To combat this issue, the initiative plans to install labeled dustbins in strategic locations to promote proper waste disposal and facilitate the segregation of recyclables from non-recyclables. Additionally, eye-catching banners will be placed to raise awareness among students, faculty, and visitors about the importance of using dustbins and discouraging littering. By fostering a sense of responsibility, the project seeks to create collective awareness of waste contamination on campus. Ultimately, this initiative aims to encourage sustainable habits, reduce littering, and contribute to a cleaner, more environmentally friendly campus, significantly enhancing the university’s overall waste management system.
The impact of the project has been significant, with the composting process reaching the halfway point in just 15 days and completion expected within one to two months. This initiative has notably improved waste management practices on campus, as pedestrians increasingly utilize the newly installed, clearly labeled dustbins for proper disposal, leading to a substantial reduction in littering. The organized dustbins have facilitated effective primary waste segregation, providing an accessible solution for managing recyclables and non-recyclables. Overall, the initiative has created a cleaner, more organized environment and fostered a greater sense of responsibility within the campus community. The team is committed to continuing and expanding these efforts to enhance campus cleanliness and sustainability, creating an even more beautiful and litter-free place for everyone.
